| Morpheus Theatre will be holding Auditions for: Patience by Gilbert and Sullivan Saturday November 30 (1:00 to 5:00pm) Monday December 1 (7:00 to 9:30pm) and Tuesday December 2 (7:00 to 9:300pm) Callbacks will be Wednesday December 3rd at the Community Arts Centre 2633 Hochwald Avenue SW (Building A3 - former Currie Barracks) Audition Requirements: * Leading Roles - Song from Patience * Chorus - Song from G&S or similar * No monologues required, a cold read may be requested * A Tape/CD player will be available. * An accompanist may be in attendance, but not guaranteed. * Please bring your resume and headshot to the audition The show runs March 27 - April 4, 2009 Rehearsals will take place from January through March. All the well-born young ladies in the village, rapturously caught up in aestheticism, are in love with two contrasting aesthetic poets--a “fleshy” poet and an “idyllic” poet. But the poets are both in love with Patience, the simple village milkmaid, who cares nothing for poetry. Patience learns that true love must be completely unselfish- -it must wither and sting and burn! The girls’ military suitors don’t see the point to aesthetics, but they decide to give it a try to win the women’s hearts. It is touch and go for awhile, but everyone ends up with a suitable partner, even if it is only a tulip or lily. This musical is touted as one of the finest in the G&S canon, yet is very seldom performed. Come and enjoy the privilege, in the tradition of Morpheus Theatre, of seeing a show worth seeing!
